A reactive control strategy for networked hydrographical system management

    Get PDF
A reactive control strategy is proposed to improve the water asset management of complex hydrographical systems. This strategy requires the definition of rules to achieve a generic resource allocation and setpoint assignment. A modelling method of the complex hydro- graphical network based on a weighted digraph of instrumented points, is also presented. The simulation results of the strategy applied to a hydrographical system composed of one confluent and two difluents show its efficiency and its effectiveness

On singular values decomposition and patterns for human motion analysis and simulation

We are interested in human motion characterization and automatic motion simulation. The apparent redun- dancy of the humanoid w.r.t its explicit tasks lead to the problem of choosing a plausible movement in the framework of redun- dant kinematics. This work explores the intrinsic relationships between singular value decomposition at kinematic level and optimization principles at task level and joint level. Two task- based schemes devoted to simulation of human motion are then proposed and analyzed. These results are illustrated by motion captures, analyses and task-based simulations. Pattern of singular values serve as a basis for a discussion concerning the similarity of simulated and real motions

We are interested in ”human-like” automatic mo- tion generation. The apparent redundancy of the humanoid wrt its explicit tasks lead to the problem of choosing a plausible movement in the framework of redundant kinematics. Some results have been obtained in the human motion literature for reach motion that involves the position of the hands. We discuss these results and a motion generation scheme associated. When orientation is also explicitly required, very few works are available and even the methods for analysis are not defined. We discuss the choice for metrics adapted to the orientation, and also the problems encountered in defining a proper metric in both position and orientation. Motion capture and simulations are provided in both cases. The main goals of this paper are : - to provide a survey on human motion features at task level for both position and orientation, - to propose a kinematic control scheme based on these features - to define properly the error between motion capture and automatic motion simulation

A flood lamination strategy based on transportation network with time delay

Over the last few years, the frequency and intensity of floods has become more marked due to the influence of climate change. The engendered problems are related to the safety of goods and persons. These considerations require predictive management that will limit water height downstream. In the literature, numerous works have described flow modeling and management. The work presented in this paper is interested in quantitative management by means of flood expansion areas placed along the river and for which we have size and location. The performance of the management system depends on the time and height of gate opening, which will influence wave mitigation. The proposed management method is based on use of a transportation network with time delay from which the volume of water to be stored is calculated

Like many of his contemporaries, Jean Bouchet reads and admires Alain Chartier. The influence of the Livre de l’Esperance is sometimes very precise in Les Regnars traversans, and one might expect the same to be true of a text in which the three theological virtues appear: Le Labirynth de fortune et Sejour des trois nobles dames. Although there are many points of convergence between these two texts, imitation plays a different role in the Labirynth

Contribution to a flood situation management: a supervisory control scheme to reduce disaster impact

Inundations due to river overflows are becoming more frequent; management of flood is thus an important task belonging to the set of preventive measures allowing the protection of people and goods downstream. The flood situation management method proposed in this paper was designed to reduce the flood impact at its early arising stage. The river is supposed to be equipped with reservoirs in which water excess are stored and then released only when the flood episode ends. The supervisory control scheme allows calculating the water volumes through the use of a network flow. The management objectives such as the maximum discharge level allowed in the river, the order of priority for the reservoir storage or release; the measured levels and discharge in the river and in the reservoirs; and the assessed parameters such as time delays, are combined to configure the network flow. Then, the optimal flow in the network is computed and supplies the reservoirs’ gate opening setpoints. Finally, the method was applied to a simulated case for which the time delay during the flood varied and remained efficient for flood attenuation compared to the case when the gates were always open, thanks to the network configuration

Marine Molins, Charles Fontaine traducteur.

In the xvi.c Ovid’s Heroides, whether by their translations or their imitations, enable us to raise questions which are at the core of the preoccupations of French humanists and poets, among which the illustration of the French language, the relationship between rhetoric and lyricism, the relationship between poetry and morality, lastly the relationship between style and the poet’s ethos. To put it briefly, Ovid and his “love letters” are at the Renaissance the revealing factors of a poetry and literary field in full mutation
